Two arrested after large-scale cannabis growhouse uncovered in Ballymena

The men, aged 18 and 48, are being questioned by detectives this evening.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested in connection with the discovery of a cannabis growhouse in the Deerfin Road area of Ballymena.

Drugs worth an estimated £135,000 (€163,000) were uncovered in the PSNI raid, which was carried out yesterday evening.

The men arrested, aged 18 and 48, are being questioned by detectives this evening. They were detained on suspicion of cultivating and possessing Class B Drugs with intent to supply.

“This operation was successful in taking a vast quantity of drugs off the streets and is part of our ongoing efforts to tackle the devastating impact of drugs on our communities,” Detective Inspector Richard Carmichael said

“I would appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to illegal drugs, to contact local police on 0845 600 8000 or, alternatively, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
