Man (33) seriously injured after being hit by car in Charleville

Park of the Cork to Limerick Road (N20) at Deerpark is closed.

A MAN HAS been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Co Cork early this morning.

Gardaí are investigating the collision, which occurred on the Cork to Limerick Road (N20) at Deerpark, Charleville at about 3.20am.

The 33-year-old pedestrian was taken to Cork University Hospital, where his condition is described as serious.

The male driver (46) and other occupants of the car were uninjured in the collision.

The road is closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and is expected to remain closed until lunchtime. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been on that stretch of road between 3am and 3.30am to contact gardaí in Mallow on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
