Welsh First Minister announces surprise cabinet reshuffle on Twitter

Interesting timing…

THE FIRST MINISTER of the devolved Welsh government is announcing details of a cabinet reshuffle this afternoon, surprising observers focused intently on the Scottish independence referendum campaign.

Carwyn Jones took to Twitter just before 1pm to announce an unexpected government reshuffle.

Jones, who leads the majority Welsh Labour party, has been announcing new ministerial appointments piece by piece in Welsh and English, exclusively on his Twitter account, in what has been dubbed the “Twuffle” in Wales.

The major news so far is the return to cabinet of Leighton Andrews as Minister for Public Services.

Andrews had been Welsh Education Minister until he was forced to resign in June 2013, after clashing with his department over the closure of a school in his constituency.
