Cisco announces 115 new jobs and €26m investment at Galway plant

The investment is being supported by IDA Ireland and was launched this morning by the Taoiseach.

THE COMPUTER NETWORKING company Cisco has announced 115 new jobs at its research and development (R&D) facility in Galway.

The world’s largest supplier of networking products says that it plans to invest €26 million into the facility over the next two years and create 115 new positions in R&D as a result.

The investment is being supported by IDA Ireland with Taoiseach Enda Kenny on hand to announce the new jobs this morning.

The project will see the company expand its mandate in Galway into new areas like communication and colloboration software technology. This will include developing cloud enabled desktop, mobile applications and real-time communications products.

“This jobs announcement by Cisco is most welcome news for Ireland and the West Region,” Kenny said today.

“The decision by Cisco to expand its Research and Development capabilities here in Galway demonstrates the value of economic stability and Ireland’s position in Europe when it comes to our ability to attract the overseas operations of world-leading multinational companies such as Cisco.”

Cisco has been operating in Galway since 2007. It also has offices for sales and EMEAR Capital operations in Dublin.
