Investigation underway after City Bin Co trucks “burned out”

The company has said that it is “100 per cent confident” this will not affect its service to people in Dublin.

AN INVESTIGATION IS underway after seven bin lorries belonging to the City Bin Company were damaged in a fire on Friday night.

Gardaí confirmed for TheJournal.ie that the incident occurred between 10pm and 11pm on Greenhills Road, Dublin 12 on 14 December. An investigation is now underway into the circumstances that led to the trucks going on fire.

CEO of the City Bin Co, Gene Browne, said that the bin trucks were burned out at the company’s premises on the Greenhills Road. The gardaí in Crumlin were immediately notified of the incident.

Browne said:

We are still in a state of shock after these events and we would urge anyone with any information to come forward. We are grateful that no one was injured during the events.

Browne stated that the City Bin Co are  “100 per cent confident that this will not affect our service to the people of Dublin”.

We have been operating in South Dublin County Council since 2007 and just recent entered the Dublin City Council market and we can absolutely guarantee our customers, old and new, that their service will be uninterrupted by these events. It is business as usual from Monday morning.

The company announced a €15 million investment in November, which it said would lead to 35 new jobs for the company.

The €15 million partnership with the City Bin Co is investor averda’s first entry into Europe and will result in the roll-out of a major European expansion over the coming years, with Ireland as the company’s European headquarters.
