Commuting liveblog: Mist, fog and a loose sheet of plastic

Here’s all the traffic, transport and weather news you need this morning.

HELLO THERE, A very good morning to one and all and welcome to Monday’s commuting liveblog.

Paul Hosford here, I’ll be with you until after 9am as another working day gets under way.

So stick with me for all the latest traffic, travel and weather information from across the country.

Morning folks!

It’s Monday and here’s what’s happening on the roads and rails.

On the weather front, Met Éireann says it will be misty and foggy this morning, but that will give way during the morning to a dry, sunny day.

Temperatures will reach between nine and 13 degrees.

Did someone say blue skies?

On the roads, the old N2 is closed at Castleblayney in Monaghan following a crash.

It was foggy around Kildare, but that is starting to lift. Which is good.

Around Dublin it’s not as heavy as it has been in recent weeks.

This is John’s Road at the South Circular Road:

And the M50 at Ballymount:

It’s building in Dublin city:

In Cork, it’s busy at the Dunkettle Interchange, the Jack Lynch Tunnel heading north and Washington Street.

In Limerick, O’Connell Street is busy, as is Mulgrave Street.

Galway is busy on the Dock Road, St Mary’s Road and is particularly heavy at Ballybrit.

A reader tells us that there’s a “big loose piece of plastic” on Davitt Road near the Goldenbridge Luas stop which is “causing some consternation to traffic”.

Be careful if you’re in the area.

Another reader tells us the M7 is very slow from Junction 11 northbound.

Google Maps agrees.

The north quays in Dublin are chronic.

A number of bus routes are having stops around Stephen’s Green relocated today.

Having been caught in this particular logjam a number of times, let me say:

Ryan

Oh, look, the M50 is busy. That’s new.

Here’s how the M50 looks at Greenhills.

This, courtesy of Shane Walsh, is how the sun looked coming up in Wicklow this morning. Stunning.

The M50 southbound is very heavy today, but a crash on the M7 has been cleared into the hard shoulder.

Fog is lifting around the country and it’s going to be a lovely, sunny day.

It’s spring time, everybody.

There’s been a crash on High Street heading away from the city.

Right, folks, that’s it from me.

The M50 and M7 are still heavy, so be careful and get where you’re going safely.

Have a great day.
