UP TO 150 construction jobs are to be created by a data centre company in Dublin.
Digital Realty made the announcement as Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton broke ground on its new 10-acre data centre site at Profile Park on the Nangor Road in west Dublin.
The company is building up to eight data centre offices across found buildings on the campus, and said that Ireland is an important hub for data centres in Europe.
Richard Bruton said the company was making a significant investment with the development.
“Big data is a sector we have identified in our Action Plan for Jobs as offering particular potential for Ireland, and we have put in place a series of measures to support growth in this area,” he said.
“I wish Digital Realty every success; we in Government will be working hard to ensure that we see further announcements like this in the coming years”.
Barry O’ Leary, the head of IDA Ireland, also welcomed today’s announcement.
