Controlled explosion carried out on IED outside Inchicore house

An Army Bomb Disposal Team was called to the scene in the Dublin suburb just after midnight.

THE DEFENCE FORCES say that an improvised explosive device (IED) was made safe outside a house in Inchicore in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

An Army Bomb Disposal Team was deployed to a residential estate in the Oblate Drive area of Inchicore just after midnight last night following a request from Gardaí.

The team examined the device located outside a private residence after arriving on the scene just before 12.30am.

The viable IED was made safe by way of a controlled explosion and the scene was declared safe at 1.10am.

The remains of the device have been handed over to Gardaí who are investigating.
