Girl Scout sets up outside a marijuana clinic, sells hundreds of cookies in the process

Bow to the queen cookie seller.

A LONG STANDING tradition among Girl Scouts in the States is to sell boxes of cookies in February to raise money for your troop. Ultimately, it’s a competition to who sells the most, but Americans can find those samoas and thin mints… addictive.

14-year-old Danielle Lei might just be the smartest Girl Scout there is, after making something of a niche for herself selling cookies outside The Green Cross medical marijuana dispenser in San Francisco.

Last year she sold 117 boxes of cookies in two hours to patients with the munchies. This year, she returned to her old spot and shifted a massive 208 boxes in just two hours–with plans to return again on Valentine’s Day.

Her mum and supervision Carol Lei told SF evergreen she’s not concerned about some parents disapproving of the location, simply saying “find your own spot”. The competition is rife, but the drama has eased from last year–with people starting to accept it as good business sense.

Last year Carol told NBC Bay Area that she simply wanted to teach her daughter about different sales environments and that cannabis users aren’t just “drugged out”, but many have “serious needs”.

The practice is still banned among Colorado troops, but Arizona scouts are permitted to sell outside marijuana facilities, according to Smell The Truth. Northern California’s troop leadership have previously said:

We’re not telling people where they can and can’t go if it’s a legitimate business.

Danielle’s goal is 1,000 boxes this season, she’s already at 508. Add in the emotional eaters on Valentine’s and she’s on to a winner.
