CORK AIRPORT IS to reopen tomorrow, following a plane crash at the site yesterday that killed six people.
Despite earlier reports that the airport would to reopen at 8pm tonight, the wreckage of the plane is expected to be fully cleared by the morning. RTÉ reports that some airlines, including Aer Lingus, have reopened check in desks.
Travellers are advised to contact their individual airlines for more information.
Earlier today, a further two of the six survivors of the crash, Donal Walsh and Laurence Wilson, were released from hospital; the four others that remain are Heather Elliot, Brendan Mallon, Peter Cowley and Mark Dickens.
The Cockpit Voice Recorder and Flight Data Recorder have been recovered and removed from the scene for examination. An investigation into the crash has already begun and, although an initial report could be compiled within a month, it is expected that a final report into the disaster could take more than a year.
