Man injured in Cork altercation dies

The man was named as Pat Deasy, and died after being critically injured during an altercation outside a pub in Cork in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A MAN WHO was critically injured following an altercation outside a Cork pub has died.

Gardaí investigating the serious assault that occurred at 12.55AM on 22 September at a pub on Avenue De Rennes, Mahon, Cork, confirmed that a man named Pat Deasy was pronounced dead this afternoon at University Hospital Cork.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to an altercation that took place outside the Red Cove Inn in Mahon in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and investigations are on-going. Gardaí say they have no indication at this stage as to the time of the post mortem.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station in Cork city on 021 4522000.
