Five women arrested in major Cork drug gang crackdown

This morning’s operation was part of a major investigation into the drug trade in the city.

FIVE WOMEN AND two men have been arrested in Cork as part of a major investigation into the drug trade in the city.

The arrests were made as part of an ongoing probe into money-laundering.

Gardaí attached to the Divisional Fraud Investigation Unit at Anglesea Street, assisted by the divisional drug unit and the Criminal Assets Bureau carried out this morning’s operation.

The seven detained are aged between 20 and 51.

All were arrested in the city area, and have been charged.

They’re due to appear at Cork District Court this morning.

The arrests are part of a long-running investigation into drugs and money-laundering in Cork, and there have been a number of court appearances to date.
