Young woman dies in Cork crash overnight

A 32-year-old has died following a single car collision in the early hours of the morning.

A 32-YEAR-OLD woman has died in a car crash at Ballinneen, county Cork overnight.

The single-car collision occurred between 2am and 2.30am at Manch Middle. The victim was the front-seat passenger in the vehicle.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to Cork University Hospital. His injuries have been described as not life-threatening.

The stretch of road is closed, pending forensic examination. Diversions are in place.

GardaĆ­ have warned motorists of dangerous driving conditions this morning because of strong winds and fallen trees. It has been a bad week for Irish road users, as three pedestrians lost their lives, as well as a 24-year-old man in Limerick.
