Three men arrested in Cobh gun and ammunition seizure

The planned search by gardaí related to “dissident republican activity” in the Cork area.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED three men in Cobh, Co Cork, after finding guns and a quantity of ammunition during a planned search yesterday evening.

A garda spokesperson said that the search was planned “as part of ongoing investigations into dissident republican activity in the Cork area”.

The men, aged in their mid-30s to early 50s, were arrested after the search of a premises at Chesnut Drive, Cluain Ard in Cobh.

Two guns and a quantity of ammunition were found and seized by gardaí during the search.

The men are being detained at Cobh and Midleton Garda Stations under Section 30 of Offences Against the State Act.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
