Man hospitalised after car crashes and bursts into flames in Dublin

The crash happened on the Raheny Road in Dublin the early hours of this morning.

A MAN IS being treated in hospital after the car he was driving crashed and burst into flames in the early hours of this morning.

The crash happened on the Raheny Road in Dublin at around 2.20am when the car hit a pole before going on fire.

Firefighters from at least three stations across north Dublin worked to free the 23-year-old driver who was trapped in the burning car.

The fire was quickly brought under control and the driver was brought to hospital with serious burns and injuries caused by the crash.

The road was closed for several hours after the crash to allow investigators to carry out an examination of the scene, but has since reopened.
