Man in critical condition after fight with group of men and women

Gardaí are interested in speaking to anyone in Carrick-on-Shannon who might have given a lift to a group of people at around 4am yesterday.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for information after a serious assault yesterday morning.

Just before 4am gardaí in Carrick-on-Shannon received a report that a man had been found assaulted on Main Street in the town.

Arriving at the scene, emergency services found the man unresponsive and the injured 30-year-old was taken by ambulance to Sligo University Hospital.

Gardaí have said that the man was injured after an altercation with a group, made up of both men and women, on the footpath of Carrick-on-Shannon’s Main Street near the junction with Bridge Street.

Gardaí have said the fight then spilled into the road.

A number of witnesses have been interviewed and CCTV covering the area is being reviewed.

Gardaí in Leitrim are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.

They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have picked up a group of people in the area at around 4am.
