CULTURE NIGHT IS happening tomorrow, with venues across the country throwing open their doors for hundreds of free events, tours, talks and performances.

There’s another bumper programme organised this year and hundreds and thousands are expected to attend and partake – and with just two days to go we’re here to help you decide what to do.

This evening we’re looking at events taking place in the east of the country, while we’ve already covered what’s happening in the west and in Dublin.

Louth

• Art historian and writer William Gallagher will be explaining art to a dead hare at the Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda
• A chance to talk about what you’re passionate about and what other people are into, a 20:20 Spirit of Creativity talk will be held at the Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk from 7pm.

Wicklow

• A meeting with Kevin is a gentle stroll around the monastic site at Glendalough with poet and storyteller Martin Swords. From 4pm.

Wicklow Town Gaol

• Crime and punishment at Wicklow Gaol, Wicklow Town. The public can step back in time 200 years and see the punishment methods used in the ancient jail for themselves. 7pm.
• A craft and food evening will take place from 6pm at the Killruddery Farm Market, near Bray. Guided walks in the dark need to be registered for in advance.
• The Legend of Finn Macoole; A Comedy in Three Attempts – a comedy of the absurd by playwright Eddie Tynan, takes place in the Bray Library Garden from 6.45pm.
• Russborough House and Gardens is hosting two free tours at 6pm and 7pm.
• March on Film, a concept which sees teams making a short film within the month of March, will be showcase screening the work of some of Ireland’s best up and coming film-makers. From 7pm, booking essential.

Kildare

• Nick Cave – 20.000 Days on Earth - drama and reality combine in a fictional 24 hours in the life of the enigmatic Australian musician. Film screened at 8pm, the Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge.
• The Bog of Allen Nature Centre, Rathangan, will be hosting a traditional Irish baking session incorporating their traditional kitchen – experience baking bread over an open fire as past generations did, and then sample some of what you’ve made. From 5pm.
• The Kildare National Playday, at Kildare County Council head office in Naas, will include a host of activities from craft workshops to bouncy castles and a reptile village. From 12pm.

• You may never have heard of a Bat Walk, but that’s exactly what the Kildare Bat Group will be doing. Meeting at the Grange Café in Sallins, the group hopes to hear and see at least four species of bats. From 7.30pm, don’t forget to bring a torch.

Westmeath

• Athlone drug awareness poster exhibition takes place all day at St Vincent de Pauls, O’Connell Street.
• A walking tour of the art of All Saints Church, Mullingar will start from 6.30pm.

• For the wedding-planners out there, a bunting workshop is being held at the Heart of Ireland Festival, Mullingar from 5pm.
• Flannery’s Bar, Athlone plays host to the Farside Festival Club Sounds, from 11pm.

Meath

Athboy Macra na Feirme

• Athboy Macra na Feirme present an evening celebrating the unique cultural heritage of both the rural youth organisation and the town itself.
• Ashbourne Library will hold an evening of music and poetry with renowned fiddler Danny Diamond from 7pm.

Carlow

• Aspiro, at Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Carlow, will be an intergenerational, 20 minute choral performance. From 7pm
