I have to say this story is a bit dull.

For one thing, this reads like copy pasta of a press release with the last two sentences tacked on. ‘Did not immediately return our call’ perhaps because it’s currently 6am in washington?

For another, daggers in a book, seriously? I suspect the passenger was not a ‘gobshite’ adult, but simply a child. Who else would think knives hidden in books are cool AND might possibly not understand what xray machines do.

Nothing more than a false flag operation. Any excuse to increase the TSA power. The story is nothing more than that, a story.
