A DELTA PLANE has made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport this afternoon.

The Boeing 747 aircraft was flying from Amsterdam to Atlanta when it declared an emergency at 2.15pm.

The plane landed safely at 2.48pm and all 392 passengers and crew disembarked the aircraft.

The plane has been assessed, with the emergency stood down at 4.02pm.

While there was some speculation of a fire on board, this was not the case.

An investigation is underway to determine what may have caused the alert.
