Ryanair promises to refund Dr Sattar for Leicester flight fees

The neurosurgeon, whose wife and three children were killed in a fire in Leicester last Friday, was initially charged €188 euros to switch to an earlier flight.

RYANAIR HAS CONFIRMED it will provide a full refund of fees charged to Dr Muhammad Taufiq Al Sattar, after the Dublin-based neurosurgeon was told he would have to pay extra to switch flights last week.

The doctor’s wife and three teenage children were killed in a house fire in Leicester last Friday.

He had been due to fly home to the English town later that day, but after receiving a call from police informing him of the tragedy, tried to get the next flight available out of Dublin.

He was initially charged €188 to switch to an earlier service, but Ryanair has confirmed today that it will refund the amount.

The airline said in a statement:

Ryanair offers its sincere condolences to Dr Sattar and confirmed that in the circumstances it will provide a full refund of any monies paid last Friday.

An 18-year-old man appeared in court in Leicester today in connection with the case, and was charged with four counts of murder.
