Fawn was found last week by a passerby in Knock. The Mayo SPCA said she is “severely emaciated and neglected” and “the victim of appalling treatment”.

An x-ray revealed that Fawn has between 50 to 60 pellets embedded in her head and ears.

She weighs 20kg, at least 10kg less than her ideal weight.

The Mayo SPCA said Fawn is “too underweight to undergo a procedure to have the pellets removed” but has been “eating well and becoming accustomed to her new surroundings and family”.

People can make a donation to aid her recovery here.
