DONEGAL. CLIFFS. GAELTACHT. Wild Atlantic Way. Whiskey.

It’s a tourism combination made in heaven.

Donegal is getting its first whiskey distillery in 174 years; the Sliabh Liag Distillery at Carrick in Donegal.

…to be constructed on the slopes of the Sliabh Liag sea cliffs in the Donegal Gaeltacht.

The Sliabh Liags (or Slieve Leagues) are a pretty spectacular location:

While the distillery won’t exactly be clinging to the rock face, it looks like it will have some incredible views:

The distillery is still in the planning stages, but the people behind it, James Doherty and Margaret Cunningham have already launched their first whiskey called The Silkie.

If you build it…
