Winter Time

Don't forget - the clocks go back tonight

The clocks change in the early hours of Sunday 30 October – going back one hour at 2am.

THE GOOD NEWS is that you get an extra hour in bed – the bad news is that the summer is undeniably over.

Summer Time ends at 2am tonight, when the clocks will go back one hour.

Winter Time officially kicks off once more at 1am Greenwich Mean Time in the early hours of Sunday 30 October, the Minister for Justice Alan Shatter has reminded the general public.

The Road Safety Authority has also taken the time to urge road-users to ensure they can be clearly see when  on the roads as the days get darker.

Noel Brett, Chief Executive, Road Safety Authority said: “From this weekend, it will be getting darker much earlier, so it’s vitally important that walkers and cyclists ensure they are visible at all times when using the roads. Other road-users have a much better chance of seeing you if you are wearing bright clothing and carrying a torch so please don’t put your life at risk by making it difficult for drivers to see you.”

Winter time is due to end at 1.00 am Greenwich Mean Time on Sunday 25 March, 2012.
