MEET 11-MONTH-old Liam Caseirio from Dublin.

This week, a photo of him in his St Patrick’s Day get-up received more likes and shares on Facebook than any of Justin Bieber’s posts, with his happy little face being spread all over the world.

The little boy’s uncle, Ronan O’Dulaing, told TheJournal.ie that his family was “blessed with its newest addition” last April. “Liam was born with Down Syndrome, a genetic condition caused by an extra chromosome, and making life a tougher challenge,” he said.

Liam’s parents Paulo and Meadhbh have participated in several fund raising activities to provide for others with special needs .

“At the tender age of 8 months , Liam became Mr January in Down Syndrome Centre’s annual calendar, unknowingly beginning his media career,” his proud uncle explained. He said it was “without much thought other than to share a smile and show some mother’s pride” that Meadhbh sent a picture of her baby boy celebrating St Patrick’s Day to be posted the Down Syndrome Centre’s Facebook Page.

The 11month-old’s photo has now gone viral, and has been viewed by 20 million people from Ethiopia to Iran, Scotland to South Africa. It has been liked by over a million people and more than 25,000 people have left comments.

Niamh Sherlock of the Down Syndrome Centre pointed out that the bouncing baby boy is “beating Justin Bieber’s Facebook posts hands down. “I think Ireland may have its own heartthrob!” she said

If Liam’s happy face has put a smile on yours, O’Dulaing has asked you to donate €2 to mark World Down Syndrome day today by texting ‘centre’ to 50300.
