TWO VIABLE EXPLOSIVE devices have been made safe by the Defence Forces after being found in a housing estate in Drogheda.
The Defence Forces deployed an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to the Moneymore housing estate in Drogheda last night following a request from Gardai.
The EOD team arrived on scene at around 10.30pm and, following an assessment, confirmed two viable improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and the components of a third.
The devices were made safe at the scene and removed for further examination in a secure military location; the scene was declared safe at 11.40pm.
Once the devices are fully examined, any material of an evidential nature will be handed over to the gardaĆ to assist in their investigations.
