A NUMBER OF voters in Dublin have yet to receive Polling Cards, but the council is reminding them that they can still vote.
The council says that an error occurred with the printing of the Polling Cards for this Friday’s referendums.
The City Council says it has “taken immediate action to rectify this error”, adding that “we are currently in the process of notifying all affected voters by post”.
It is not known how many people were affected by the error, but new voters and those who had moved house were affected.
Added to that, some voters were sent cards sending them to the wrong polling station.
Some deceased people were also sent cards.
“Letters have been sent this evening to voters whose original Polling Cards directed them to the wrong Polling Station, advising them of the correct location at which to cast their vote.
“Letters are also issuing to voters who are new to the Electoral Register and/or who have changed address recently, advising them of their electoral number and the correct Polling Station to which they must go if they wish to cast their vote,” said the council.
They added that the Polling Card was not required to vote.
“However, we want to remind Voters that they should bring a valid form of identification to the Polling Station as usual. A Passport, Driver’s Licence, Garda ID Card, Student ID or Social Welfare Card will suffice in this regard.”
