Ger Dundon charged with multiple counts of dangerous driving

The 30-year-old was charged at Limerick District Court with ten separate counts of dangerous driving.

A LIMERICK MAN, Ger Dundon, has appeared in court this morning charged with multiple counts of dangerous driving.

The 30-year-old, with an address Hyde Road, Limerick, was charged at Limerick District Court with ten separate counts of dangerous driving, at various locations in Limerick city and county, on last Sunday.

The father of three was also charged with one count of endangerment, contrary to Section 13 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, at St Paul’s Roundabout, Ballinacurra Road, Limerick, also on Sunday.

He was brought to the court this morning by armed Garda escort.

Inside the court he was flanked by up to five gardaí.

Detective Garda David Baynam of Henry Street Garda Station gave evidence of arresting him at 8.30pm yesterday for the purpose of charging him.

Detective Garda Baynam told the court Mr Dundon “made no reply to any of the charges, after caution”.

Solicitor John Devane was assigned to represent Mr Dundon, and free legal aid was granted by the court.

Mr Devane indicated to the court he would be seeking bail on behalf of Mr Dundon.

Detective Garda Baynam told presiding judge Marian O’Leary, that gardaí would be objecting to bail under O’Callaghan Rules and Section 2 of the Bail Act.

Ger Dundon, who wore a grey adidas tracksuit, and had visible bruising to his right eye, did not speak during the brief court hearing.

The matter has been left stand for a bail application at some stage today.
