Clubhouse at Dunmore East Golf Club completely gutted by overnight fire

Three fire brigade units attended the fire.

THE CLUBHOUSE AT Dunmore East Golf Club in Waterford was completely gutted by a fire last night.

The blaze appears to have started in the early hours of this morning with three units from Dunmore and Tramore Fire Services alerted the scene shortly before 4am.

The fire crew remained at the scene until about 8am but the clubhouse had been gutted by fire.

This morning the club posted to its Facebook page telling members that the clubhouse had “completely burned down during the night”.

The clubhouse at the 18-hole course overlooks the Waterford Harbour estuary as well as the Hook Peninsula and out towards the Irish Sea.

Local councillor Pat Fitzgerald says that the community have lost a “great asset” with the destruction of the club.

“Hopefully they’ll be able to recover from this and it’ll be rebuilt,” he added.
