1. #BREAKING: Gardai in Dundalk are investigating the sudden death of a man overnight.

2. #WINTER: Almost 200 extra beds to house Dublin’s homeless are being opened over the winter as part of the Cold Weather Initiative in Dublin. This also includes 55 units for homeless families.

3. #GALWAY: Gardaí have issued an appeal for help in finding a man who assaulted a six-year old boy in a supermarket car park. The boy suffered an arm injury which required hospital treatment when he was knocked to the ground by the man in the daylight attack in Galway.

4. #NO CASH: All of the National Library’s important collections are deteriorating because of unsuitable conditions, according to a letter seen by RTÉ News. The library needs an extra €500,000 per year.

5. #SINAI CRASH: US satellite imagery detected heat around a Russian passenger jet just before it went down in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, two US officials have confirmed.

6. #IN THE CLASSROOM: Catholic schools will have less time to teach religion when a new subject is introduced to primary schools, the Irish Independent reports. Religion, Beliefs, and Ethics has been described as “bizarre”, with some arguing that it will require religious schools to take a secular approach.

7. #QUAKE: A powerful 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Indonesia overnight, with some reports of minor property damage but no casualties recorded so far.

8. #WAITING LISTS: The details of how a couple in their were 90s were left for hours on trolleys in an emergency department has fueled further criticism of the health system. The Irish Daily Mail says the husband, who has Parkinson’s, was on a trolley for 29 hours, and his wife for seven.

9. #MONEY MONEY MONEY: A massive surge in corporate tax payments – to the tune of around €800 million – is not a one-off event, The Irish Times reports. Revenue believes it is the result of strong trading conditions.
