1. #BACK ON TRACK This morning’s rail strike has been called off. Talks between unions and Irish Rail came to an end just before 4am this morning.

2. #JAIL TIME: Judges are not taking burglaryoffences seriously, a senior Department of Justice official has said. The Irish Independent reports that Jimmy Martin raised concerns over the number of times people on bail have offended again.

3. #TROLLEY CRISIS: An elderly man spent 36 hours on a trolley at Cork University Hospital, the Irish Daily Mail reports. Deirdre O’Mara’s father-in-law (96) described the the late-night visit to the emergency department as like entering “a warzone”.

4. #SINAI CRASH: Investigators have said it is looking increasingly likely a bomb in the plane’s hold brought down a Russian airliner in the Sinai peninsula. At least 179 Irish people are thought to be stranded at a resort after flights out of it were cancelled.

5. #PAYBACK TIME: AIB has been given the green light to start repaying billions to the State. According to RTÉ News the total amount is in the region of €3.3 billion.

6. #ABUSE Archbishop Eamon Martin has revealed he has come across several situations where he was concerned that vulnerable people may have been abused by priests. He says he referred them to “a dedicated person” and civil authorities.

7. #LEAKS: Anonymous has published Ku Klux Klan members’ names online. Almost 400 names were released after the 11-month operation.

8. #SENT HOME: Gardaí are unable to enter private residences for the forced deportation of failed asylum seekers, The Irish Times reports. The situation has occurred following a High Court judgement, with new legislation being prepared to address the situation.

9. #ALMOST A MIRACLE: That’s how one doctor described a one-year-old girl beating cancer through a pioneering new treatment, the Guardian reports. Layla Richards was treated with designer immune cells.
