1. #BREXIT: Ireland would face billions in extra costs if the United Kingdom left the European Union, a new ESRI study has found. This is mainly down to increased energy costs and difficult trading conditions.

2. #IN THE COMMUNITY: The Irish Examiner reports that 18 registered sex offenders live within walking distance of several schools in Cork city. Gardaí in the city are currently taking part in a pilot scheme involving the monitoring of sex offenders.

3. #UNION HALL: A Egyptian national been charged under the Immigration Act following the inspection of a ship in Cork yesterday morning.

4. #BACK ON TRACK: Talks are due to resume between Irish Rail and rail unions ahead of a strike tomorrow morning. RTÉ News reports that as many as 40,000 people could be affected by the disruption tomorrow between 6am and 9am.

5. #BORDER POLL: Two-thirds of people from the Republic of Ireland would like to see a united Ireland in their lifetime, but it’s a different story north of the border. A survey by RTÉ and the BBC found that 30% of people in Northern Ireland say they wanted a united Ireland.

6. #COURT ORDER: The supreme court will decide later today whether IDA Ireland can go ahead with a compulsory purchase order, effectively forcing a Kildare farmer from his home. Thomas Reid has been embroiled in an intense legal battle for the past four years.

7. #TROLLEY WAIT: Tallaght Hospital has been criticised for ‘attempting to silence’ a doctor who revealed how an elderly couple spent hours on trolleys, according to the Irish Independent. Consultant Fergal Hickey said there should be a focus on improving patient safety.

8. #SINAI CRASH: As many as 20,000 British nationals are stranded at the resort of Sharm el Sheikh after Downing Street stopped all tourist flights from the resort, Sky News reports. Irish citizens are being warned not to travel outside the resort.

9. #BYE (FOR NOW): Today is the last day of the Web Summit, and the last time it will be held in Dublin for the foreseeable future. Minister Richard Bruton told reporters that it’s ‘disappointing’, but “Ireland and Dublin remain a very vibrant entrepreneurship space and that won’t change”.
