Senator John Paul Phelan is a Fine Gael candidate in Carlow-Kilkenny. Phelan has been a member of Seanad Eireann since his election to the body in 2002 at the age of just 23. By that time, he was already quite accustomed to moving in political circles as he sat on Kilkenny County Council since 1999. He is currently the Fine Gael spokesperson on Enterprise, Trade & Employment in the Seanad.

  • Get people back to work and stop the brain drain which is estimated at 1,000 young people each week
  • Abolish quangos and kick-start political reform
  • Ensure Kilkenny and Carlow are at the heart of jobs policy
  • Deliver a University of the South East with campuses in Kilkenny and Carlow
