Jim Daly

5
Party: Fine Gael
Constituency: Cork South West

Jim Daly is one of two Fine Gael candidates set to contest the three-seat Cork South-West constituency. Though Daly is a qualified primary school teacher, he decided to concentrate on his duties as a public representative on a full-time basis shortly after his election to Cork County Council in 2004. The Clonakility man topped the poll in Skibbereen in the 2009 local elections, exceeding the quota on the first count with almost 15 per cent of the vote.

Daly identifies John Hume as his political idol, describing him as "one of the most courageous and visionary social and political leaders of our time".
