Dara Blaney

4
Constituency: Donegal North East

Dara Blaney is the son of former Fianna Fáil and independent TD Neil T. Blaney, who was sacked from Jack Lynch's government for his involvement in the arms crisis in 1970 and later expelled from the party. Dara is a member of the New Vision alliance, as is his brother Eamonn who is running in Dublin North East.

Policies
  • A new state energy company should be established like Statoil in Norway to manage the extraction and distribution of our oil and gas
  • The bondholder bailout policy must be reversed. The exchange of bank debt for bank equity should be examined still to see if it is feasible
  • Cap the numbers and salaries of all public employees and cut their existing and future pensions to fair levels
  • Employers' PRSI is a major disincentive to taking more people on and needs to be reduced or abolished
  • Widespread political reform; cut the wages and pensions of T.D.s, ministers etc. by 30%

Did you know?

Dara's cousin Niall Blaney is an outgoing Fianna Fáil TD for Donegal North East. He announced he would not be contesting the election due to personal reasons.
