Labour have nominated Councillor James Heffernan to contest the election in Limerick. A primary school teacher by trade, Heffernan was unsuccessful when he ran in the 2007 election in Limerick West, securing 5 per cent of the vote. The 31-year-old was elected to Limerick County Council on the first count in June 2009.



 

Did you know?

James' brother, Pat Jnr, won a Munster senior hurling title with Limerick in 1995.
