Outgoing TD John O'Mahony is standing for re-election in the five-seat Mayo constituency. O'Mahony, who was a secondary school teacher prior to entering politics, was elected for his first term as a deputy in 2007. In October 2010, he was appointed as Fine Gael's Deputy Spokesperson on Tourism, Culture and Sport.

Did you know?

As well as managing Leitrim and Mayo, O'Mahony won All-Ireland Senior Football titles as manager of Galway in 1998 and 2001.
