Outgoing Fine Gael TD Shane McEntee is standing for re-election in the three-seat constituency of Meath East. The 54-year-old publican and former farmer was first elected to the Dáil when he won a by-election held in March 2005 to fill John Bruton's vacant seat. He was returned to office in 2007 and was selected soon afterwards as Fine Gael's Deputy Spokesperson on Transport. He was appointed as the party's Deputy Agriculture Spokesperson in October 2010.
