RTÉ has delayed the Taoiseach's interview... because of EastEnders

Priorities.

A SOAP HAS gotten in the way of the Taoiseach’s much anticipated interview this evening.

RTÉ were due to broadcast a rare live televised interview with Enda Kenny this evening at 9.35pm.

However, another matter has gotten in the way.

A live episode of EastEnders, originally due to be broadcast tomorrow night, will be broadcast this evening at 9.25pm, pushing Prime Time back until 10pm.

“Due to the confidential nature of the ‘Who Killed Lucy?’ EastEnders storylines the BBC was not in a position to give international broadcast partners detailed programme information ahead of each episode,” a statement from the state broadcaster read.

Once we were made aware by the BBC of the significance of this episode RTÉ made a decision to simulcast the episode with the BBC rather than disappoint Eastenders fans.
