Enda in Lithuania to prepare for presidency handover

The Taoiseach is also due to travel to Finland tomorrow.

THE TAOISEACH ENDA Kenny is to meet the leaders of Baltic states Latvia and Lithuania during an official visit today.

Ireland passes the Presidency of the European Union to Lithuania next month and preparations will be made with President Dalia Grybauskaité and Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius. Talks on continuing negotiations about the next €960 billion EU budget with the European Parliament will also be held.

While in Latvia, Kenny will discuss the country’s imminent accession to the eurozone with Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis.

Tomorrow, a trip to Finland is on the cards, where he will meet with President Sauli Niinisto at his official residence to speak on external relations.

The Taoiseach will join Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen for a discussion on the outstanding ambitions of our Presidency and a look ahead to the June European Council during a working lunch.  Later in the day, the Taoiseach will address the 4th Annual Economic Ideas Forum with Greek leader Antonis Samaras and Commission head Olli Rehn.
