Woman in life threatening condition after stabbing in Ennis

A 22-year-old female has been arrested in relation to the incident.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses following a serious assault that took place in Ennis, Co Clare, this evening.

At approximately 5.05pm today a 23-year-old female was seriously injured when she sustained a number of stab wounds during an incident on the grounds of the primary school in the vicinity of Station Road/Friar’s Walk near the exit to the shopping centre car park.

She was removed by ambulance to Midwestern Regional Hospital. Her condition is currently described as life threatening.

A female, aged 22, was arrested and is currently detained under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Ennis Garda Station. A technical examination of the scene is underway and enquiries are ongoing.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular anyone in the vicinity of Friar’s Walk, Station Road, the shopping centre car park or the primary school between 4.30pm and 5pm today to contact them.
