That party the ESB staged inside a mountain appears to have gone pretty well...

The energy provider has been hosting a concert inside Turlough Hill to mark the hydro-electric station’s 40th birthday.

Well, actually. No, they didn’t… Apparently, it was just the case that nobody really thought of it until now…

The ESB has been hosting a concert inside Turlough Hill in Co Wicklow this evening to mark the hydro-electric station’s 40th anniversary.

Staff involved in the construction of the massive project, local dignitaries and various other invited guests all attended the bash.

The Clare Memory Orchestra, the Wicklow Choral Society and well-known trad musicians Martin Hayes and Denis Cahill were amongst the performers — and if these snaps are anything to go by, the whole affair seems to have worked out pretty well…
