Don’t think Inez is doing that Mark. All she said was the schools have been waiting for building to go a head for a number of years. Some others have pointed out work on some schools already. As for Mr Quinn and what may be fact or fiction cast your mind back to his pre election ‘stunt’ for the 3rd level fees. As some might say a mans word is only as good as his signature.

Also why should you require someone to declare their ‘political affiliations’ if they are posting a comment?

Good point Ann. The government hands over a billion euro out last month that they had no obligation to, and then borrows 100 million. It’s bloody treasonous. Our own money could easily be funding this and not require repayment like the EIB loan

You’re right. But there’s no point hiring new teachers of they only have collapsing prefabs to teach in. It’s not an either/or situation. We need both, but realistically we’ll get them one at a time, not together. I’m just dismayed at the tendency to rain on everything. I’m no fan if this government, but dismissing everything they do is as pointless as blindly agreeing with everything they do. Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day.

Due to the tendering requirement any contractor within Europe is capable of winning so long as they are the most competitive. I wouldn’t be too pessimistic there’s plenty of contractors both sides of the border winning contracts in London so no reason they can’t do the same here

I know what you mean I have two brothers who are sparks and can’t get work in their own country because of these nordi’s working for peanuts
It’s self defeating because all those euros are simply flowing up north instead if a sparks here had the job he would be able to pay his mortgage etc…..instead of depending on the dole

This is the same government that had big ad campaigns convincing us to buy Irish to grow jobs .yet when it comes to spending money on a school the cheapest tender wins it doesn’t matter about the wage agreements or conditions of the workers doing the job

Don’t get me wrong I have no problem with any nationality doing the work as long as agreed wage agreements are adhered to,but they aren’t
