On a day in which Irish people of a certain age experienced a nostalgic jump back to childhood with the news that Findus Crispy Pancakes are not long for this world, have a listen to one of cinema’s most legendary names struggling with an ad for various frozen foods.

Orson Welles, the man behind celluloid triumphs Citizen Kane and Touch of Evil, wasn’t averse to, well, lowering his standards in later years (his last role was that of Galvatron in Transformers the Movie after all).

But there’s still something a little tragic about him struggling with the grammatical inferiority of ad copy for frozen cod:
