• Ireland is talking about threesomes or more specifically advice on the SpunOut website which has led to the HSE issuing a statement saying the youth organisation should consider the “appropriateness” of its advice to young teens about sex and threesomes.
• In another statement today, the HSE also defended the ambulance response time to an incident where a young boy drowned in a river in Cork. James Casey Butler, 7, died at the weekend after falling into the Owenacurra river. The HSE said an ambulance arrived on the scene in less than 20 minutes.
• A decision in the High Court today could have implications for upward only rent reviews as a judge ruled that the amount of rent Bewley’s pays to its landlord for its Grafton Street premises must fall in line with current market conditions.
• Cyprus is bailed-out with the full detail of the agreement still to come but already there’s been trouble in the markets after comments from the head of the eurozone finance ministers which sent shares falling and forced him to issue a clarifying statement.
• The property tax continues to cause controversy and division within government it seems as the Labour Party chief whip hit out at the Environment Minister today over the list of properties exempted from the tax.
• A father and son were rescued from the east pier in Howth in Co Dublin earlier today after they became trapped in an alcove between breaking waves.
