Exhumed body is not that of teenager missing since 1994

Arlene Arkinson was 15 years old when she disappeared.

A BODY EXHUMED in Co Sligo is not that of a teenage girl who went missing in 1994.

Arlene Arkinson (15) from Castlederg in Co Tyrone disappeared after a night out in Co Donegal in August of that year.

She was last seen in the company of convicted child killer and rapist Robert Howard, who died in 2015. He was acquitted of Arlene’s murder, but remains the prime suspect.

BBC News is today reporting that a body was exhumed from a grave in Co Sligo in March. Arlene’s family have since confirmed it was not her body.

Her sister Kathleen told the BBC: “My hope in finding the remains of my sister, Arlene, have been dashed again.

“I prayed it was Arlene and was devastated when I was told it wasn’t. We seem to suffer blow after blow.”
