AN EXPLOSION IN the English town of Haxley has killed at least one person.
The explosion, believed to have been caused by gas, occurred early this morning and has completely destroyed a house in the North Yorkshire town.
Local emergency services have been on scene since 7.30am and at least one fatality has been confirmed.
Locals have reported feeling the ground shake from across the street and hearing the explosion from three miles away.
One man, Paul Foster, who lives nearby, told the BBC that he thought the explosion was a plane crash.
I looked out of the window and at first I couldn’t see anything, I thought an aircraft could have come down.
“There was a large plume of smoke coming up.
“Shortly after that I heard all of the emergency service sirens.”
