A BOMB EXPLODED outside the British embassy in the Bahraini capital earlier today, according to the Bahrain Interior Ministry.

The explosion did not cause damage to the embassy nor any injuries, a spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office told the BBC. The authorities have opened an investigation into the incident.

Bahrain Interior Ministry spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Saleh Salem said that the blast was caused a device that was placed under a wheel of a van in a carpark just 50 metres from the embassy, Al Jazeera reports.

The vehicle was damaged when the device exploded and a hole of about 30cm in diameter was created below it. Several other cars in the vicinity were also damaged.
