Explosives found in Strabane during planned police search

The find has been linked to dissident republican activity.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have recovered what is believed to be a quantity of explosives and explosive material in Strabane this morning.

The discovery was made during a planned search of land in the Cemetery Road area by detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch.

The search was carried out in relation to dissident republican activity. Army bomb experts were called to the scene but no homes had to be evacuated.
