Fallon brothers and Paddy Cosgrave honoured at Eircom Spiders

A Belfast foundation that helps young people through sport also claimed two awards on the night.

WEB SUMMIT FOUNDER Paddy Cosgrave was last night recognised for his work in attracting the tech industry’s biggest names to Dublin.

Cosgrave was awarded the Outstanding Achievement gong at the Eircom Spiders for his work on the summit. The judging panel said that he had “put Ireland on the digital map” and his contribution to the digital economy.

Brian and Eamonn Fallon, founders of Journal Media and  Distilled Media Group, which owns Daft.ie, Adverts.ie and Boards.ie, were also honoured, picking up the Internet Hero award for their success in the industry.

Sport Changes Life, a Belfast based foundation which “aims to raise the aspirations of young people through sporting excellence”, scooped the Grand Prix prize. They were also winners of the Sports category on the night.

Electric Ireland scooped two eircom Spider awards for excellence in social media and best online campaign for Powering Kindness week.

Other winners included Irish First Aid app for Best Mobile App, My Golf Society in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality category, Funked Up Fixies for eBusiness and Linked Finance for Financial Services.
