Councillors in Greystones have voted in favour of banning fast food restaurants opening within 400 metres of schools.

LOCAL COUNCILLORS IN Greystones have voted in favour of a banning fast food restaurants opening within 400 metres of schools.

The issue has been contentious in the town since McDonald’s applied to open a restaurant and drive-through service in the town.

McDonald’s is currently appealing a decision to refuse its application.

The motion must be approved by Wicklow County Council before it can be implemented.
